By Brandon Alter:
I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t entirely know what’s going on. But I know we are in this together. I know that love is not the opposite of fear, it is the bride of fear.
Fear shows us where we are tight and untrusting
and deeply human.
Love helps us open to the now. Love makes us infinite.
Fear is not the enemy, it is a tool, it diagnoses us.
If you have ever had a cut and then handled lemons, you know the lemon juice shows you every piece of yourself that has been sliced open. Fear works in the exact same way. It illuminates your vulnerabilities so that then you can wrap those tender bits in love. I am committed to staying with my fear. To honoring it. It is an ally because it shows me where I am in need of more love. I will not suppress it or deny it. But I will also not be ridden by it.
I will continue to double down on love.
I will love my fear. I will let it walk beside me.
But I will not confuse it for myself.
Thanks for showing up in whatever way you can show up.
There is no right way to love.
There is no right way to be in crisis.
There is no right way to move through fear.
There is only your way, and however you are doing it, it is right for you right now.
You are loved. You are love. Spread love.
