By Brandon Alter:
We are just leaving the Season of Death. I don’t mean to scare you. Death should not be scary. Death should be our friend. But our Western culture hasn’t set us up too well for that. And as a result, we have a pretty fucked up relationship with Death. I mean, just notice how we always celebrate Halloween. We either sugarcoat our fears with cute spiders and adorable ghosts, or we head in the other direction: we put severed heads on our lawn, we paint ourselves like monsters, and give over to our obsession with scary movies and serial killers. Either way we swing, we are not in right relationship with death. Death is not an adorable spider or a grotesque monster. Death is an ally that unsticks what is stuck in us. Scorpio Season is where we begin to get right with Death, so hopefully you passed through it with lessons learned, ready for anything!
Scorpio rules over our subconscious, our shadow, our deepest fears, our shame, our hidden selves. The Eighth sign of the Zodiac is the underbelly of the psyche, the depths of our emotional and intuitive oceans. This is an energy that loves to hunker down and dive deep.
Scorpio rules over the occult, astrology, Tarot, witchcraft, magic. All this talk of death can get us feeling pretty alive, if you know what I mean. If it seemed like Scorpio energy was intense, then brava, you were paying attention. Scorpio is all or nothing, like a dog with a bone. It’s the natural response to a moonth of Libra energy.
After a season of playing nice and keeping the peace, it’s time to tell the truth and own our shit. I hope you didn't shy away from the beautiful intensity of Scorpio Season, but if you did . . . there's always next year!
