Lucky for me, my life has been full of travel these last few months, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be stopping any time soon. I’ve always loved adventure and exploring new places, but when I was young that used to come with a ton of anxiety. I was a stressed mess from check in to check out. As I’ve matured, I’ve been learning how to let go of control and just enjoy the ride. But it’s more than just releasing my inner control freak that has allowed me to travel with grace; it’s realizing that wherever in the world I am, I belong. Because I belong to this planet. You see, the amazing thing about forming a real relationship with the Earth is that no matter where in the world you go, you feel at home! As long as there is sky above me, as long as I can see the moon, I feel connected.
I also want to share this little ritual I do whenever I start a road trip or take a flight. Because transition is hard for us humans and travel can certainly scatter our energies, I have gotten into the habit of asking my guides to help me with every journey I take.
Before take off, or before I pull out of my driveway, I close my eyes, get centered, and say this little prayer: “Spirits of the road, spirits of the air, gather up my energy, take me from here to there.”
Sometimes I’ll even say it again when I’m halfway to my destination, and I’ll close my eyes and draw any dispersed energies back into myself. Try it the next time you have to go somewhere and see if you don’t feel more grounded and connected when you arrive. Don’t forget to thank your guides and allies for their help! The more gratitude you bestow on your helping spirits the more powerful their assistance will become.
