By Angel Lopez:
June finds us swaying in the thoughtful breeze of
Gemini Season.
Gemini is all about connection, communication, and curiosity, so you may find yourself pulled toward calling up friends, making plans, or exploring new spots. But there’s also a sense of reconnection that comes with this month as Mercury, the planet that rules Gemini, is in its retrograde phase, a time that brings a lot of “re” words with it. The retrograde goes until the 23rd, but its effects will be felt all month and could have you recalling places you loved and revisiting them, re-engaging with folks you haven’t seen in a while, and returning to projects that could use a fresh coat of perspective. This energy also allows you to re-ignite any introspection that you’ve been too busy to focus on.
The main message of a Mercury retrograde phase is “slow down.” And with that can come a little insight and the most important word that starts with “re”—rest.
The beginning of this month brings a shift for the planet Venus, which will move into the more sensitive and intuitive sign of Cancer. With this sign’s influence, the planet of love and relationships wants you to move toward connections that feel like home. By doing so, you also get to move toward feeling more at home within yourself. Venus will be in the sign of Cancer until June 28th, so for most of the month, you may find your intuitive hunches about people panning out. Trust your gut when it comes to who’s on your side. Be protective of who you give your time and energy to. And if anyone from the past does show back up, make sure that they aren’t just triggering old, sensitive response patterns but actually deserve your attention right now.
On June 10th is the Gemini New Moon, which should give you a lot to ponder.
New moons are meant to bring new beginnings with them, and this one should offer you an opportunity to think about yourself in a whole new way. It’s easy to react in ways that you’re used to, but what if you were so aware in the moment that you could challenge yourself to respond differently when confronted with an issue or event. This new moon is connected to the greater transformation that’s been moving through you since the tail end of 2019. You may find yourself pushed to make decisions that in the moment feel challenging but ultimately are in service of the future vision you have for yourself. Follow your heart and leave any old personal beliefs that are keeping you from moving forward on the curb.
Mars moves into Leo on the 11th, where it will be through the end of July. Leo brings courage to express your most dynamic self, so there will be a lot of support to make the necessary changes you need so that you can shine. This is also a time to step into the spotlight in your own way. Not everyone needs a stage, but everyone needs to be seen and recognized for their contributions. Make sure that you get the affirmation that you need to feel like you’re being valued. You can also use this energy to fuel any creative endeavors. Whether that’s getting creative with a project, your home, or your look, you can lean in to this Leo vibe and take advantage of its encouraging motivation.
On June 14th, Uranus and Saturn have the second of their three squares, or challenges, this year, which can bring struggle but solely for growth’s sake. A meet-up between these two calls for a change to the status quo, so we’re all experiencing this call in some area of our lives this year. Out with the old guard and in with the new.
You can’t continue doing things the way you have up until this point if you want to get greater, different results.
The first surge of this energy occurred on February 17th, so you can look back to any events or feelings that came up around that time. You’ll find that the 14th brings another nudge toward whatever it was you are trying to shift and evolve to this year. Release where you’re being stubborn about welcoming change, especially if it clearly involves something that could help you manifest a dream or goal. Bad habits are hard to kill and aspirations are hard to believe into reality. But without that belief in yourself, you won’t be able to bring what you want into being.
Cancer Season begins on June 20th, which is the same day that Jupiter shifts into its retrograde phase. With the Sun’s shift into Cancer, we are all called to shine a light on our homes, our families, and our personal history.
How are these areas helping or hurting your self-definition?
Work toward making amends with any pains that you have in those areas. You can also take advantage of this energy by falling in love with family, lightening up your home, or illuminating parts of your history or ancestry that you haven’t been too connected to. Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance, takes a little pause on its energy, but that doesn’t mean you’re doomed. It’s really an opportunity to check in with where you’re at in regards to bringing abundance into your life. You can also course correct any work, relationships, and experiences that Jupiter has been growing in your life to make sure that you feel in alignment with your desired path.
On June 24th is the Capricorn Full Moon, which usually brings feelings around the larger goals you want to achieve. This particular one helps you to look at the people in your life so that you can make sure they’re supporting you in these long-term plans. Are they being your cheerleaders or potholes? And that’s not to say you just want some “yes” people around you, agreeing to everything that you have in mind. But you do want folks who can be on your side and who aren’t acting with any sense of jealousy or malintent. This full moon may very well stop you in your tracks, either with some tough love or challenging roadblocks. But remember, anything that comes up is really just a lesson. Approach it all with that in mind.
The last big news of the month comes in the forms of another retrograde and planetary shift. On the 25th, Neptune takes a retrograde pause, where it will be until December. During that time, it allows you to integrate the spiritual lessons you’ve taken in over the last seven months.
What has your life taught you about compassion, empathy, and your soul that could be better utilized in your day to day?
Are there new truths about yourself that you need to explore? Venus will shift into Leo on the 27th, which allows you to be more expressive in your partnerships. These could be good testing grounds for any segments of the “new you” that need to shine outward. It also brings a greater sense of joy and creative collaboration to your connections, allowing you to find people who speak your language and help ignite your inner fire. With this shift, there should be more room to laugh, to love, and to find some light in life. Now who couldn’t use a little bit of that right now?
